While I am still annoyed at Home Depot for making me wait so long for my stove, I must compliment the delivery guys. They were prompt and they were friendly and quick. Got the old stove out, man was it dirty underneath it, and the new one in pretty quickly.
Cooked in a real stove for the first time in about a year and a half. Broiled some chicken wings which I sloshed in butter and lemon juice and salted nicely with my "Grammy's Spiced Salt."
It is one of those fancy flat burner type stoves. The directions say that I shouldn't use my new cast iron skillet. Guess I will just have to ultra careful, cause I love my skillet. Properly seasoned it in my new stove too.
I also have a Kindle which I totally love. Had a heart stopping moment yesterday when all I couldn't get anything but a blank screen. Thank goodness for Best Buy Geeks, forgot the guy's name who helped me, but he knew what to do. Which sort of points a flaw in electronics they give great manuals, on the device, so when you can't get it to work you stuck. No, I'm not gonna print the damn thing out. Rebooting seems to cure Kindles much like it does errant PCs.
Bought a library card yesterday, yes bought, live outside the city so I have to pay $60 a year for the privlege, but man I forgot how fun it is to check out books and haul them home. Found a new place eat right underneath the library, smelled the dang food while I was browsing for books. Another thing that is cool about libraries, the physical browsing of books. Touching them, bending down to find the one you are looking for, and then carrying off your treasure! It's great and it's relatively quiet, nice!
Well, off to start reading my books... yeah!
In observance of who I am, what I do, and what I eat I shall explore and share the enviorns I frequent.

The assessories of eating well...
Ok, I lied, I probably don't eat all that well, otherwise not only would have not had a horribly painful day today, I'd be about 20 lbs thinner, at least.
Bought a stove on Friday, but not getting until Feb 3. That's one of the down things about Home Depot, they take forever to deliver your stuff. Of course this time it didn't help that the stove I wanted wasn't in stock. I bought one of those new fangled flat burner stoves. Hoping Marshall will not pee on it, like he does my old broken down stove from time to time.
I also bought my very first cast iron skillet! Cooked fried chicken, sorry forgot to take pictures. Andrew said the chicken was "too dark" but he ate it and the mashed taters. Cast iron gets hot and stays hot, I discovered too late, but with practice I'll get it right.
I'm also going to purchase a ceramic cast iron dutch oven. Wanted a Le Cresuet one, but they are $200! Kohls sells a FoodNetwork version for 59.99, so I will start out with that first and see how I do.
That's the Le Creuset dutch oven. The FoodNetwork one looks the same, just no "le creuset" written on it.
The one below is a Lodge dutch oven and on Amazon is 59.99
Good cooking comes from practice and that's what I will start doing. Before the new stove arrives.
I also got some canisters for my sugar and flour, cat hair is a nightmare and floats into canisters that do not have a lid on them. Nice ones, 19.99 for seven black crockery ones at Bed Bath and Beyond. Not too bad.
Well enough rambling talk at you later.
Found an old friend
You all know how weird it is to be cruising around facebook and find an old friend. I just found Andy Walton, had a crush on him in high school, but I was a dummy. Anyway, he is of course married, happily, and with children AND even better he is running the family farm, Lake View Farm in Halsey, OR.

Managing pain and eating well
Nope, I'm not going tell you how to eat well and be pain free, because I have no clue. I have to be satisfied that the pain I have in my hands, hips, knees, and feet is not so bad that I can't walk or drive places. Today my feet really hurt and I woke up with pain in my hands, but I just push on. I don't do all that much right now, so I hope when I do find a job that the pain doesn't increase with my activity.
Having roasted game hen tonight, not sure what else, other than I have had Minute Rice three nights in a row and I'm not having it tonight.
Sipping some Fat Tire and waiting for the hen to cook. I do love a good ale. I really like Pelican Ale but I can only get it by the huge bottle here in Salem, so I have to really want it to buy it since it costs for the one bottle about half of Fat Tire, Long Board, Moose Drool, or any of the other ales I sample from time to time.

Went to the doctor and the doctor said
it is possible that I have osteoarthritis. So I am going to blog or journal about the pain. Today the pain in my fingers is fairly. Always there but not bad. My toes ache but also not bad. Getting up and down the stairs and in and out of the FJ painfree! I will have to make chart of the pain.

Lunch today
I know I know, probably over share. I had a grilled cheese sandwich and tomato soup. It was very yummy. Nothing stupifying about it, just Campbell's Soup and bread and Tillamook Medium Cheddar. I would have preferred Sharp, but my daughter bought so I am stuck with her preferred cheese. She did get Tillamook Cheese so I can't gripe too awfully much.
I am still having issues with accessing the blog with my blackberry so I can't show you all a picture yet.

Not saying that I am cooking near Julia Child, but maybe some day someone will get me the set and I can try my hand at it. Need a new stove though and pots and pans and ceramic cook pot and knives and well a new kitchen, but the last one will never happen. The others will take a bit of time to accumulate.
